Never turn your back on borders, live up to your responsibilities, adviser tells BGB

Retired Lt. General Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Advisor to the Ministry of Home Affairs, has urged the Border Guard Authority of Bangladesh (BGB) to prevent further tragic incidents like the killing of Felani. He directed them to never turn their backs on the border and to discharge their duties dutifully.

At a meeting with senior BGB officials at the Border Conference Centre at BGB headquarters in Pilkhana, Dhaka on Saturday (September 7), the adviser gave clear instructions.

“Corruption will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” he stressed, warning that any BGB member involved in bribery or corruption would face severe disciplinary action, including possible dismissal from service.

He stressed that the BGB must act within the framework of the law and that its main tasks are border security and the prevention of smuggling. He called on the BGB to fulfil this responsibility with professionalism and commitment.

BGB Director General Major General Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui along with other senior officials of BGB Headquarters, Regional, Sector and Battalion Commanders participated in the meeting via video conference.
