The collapse of the Gray family: from eviction to tragedy

The Gray family, once a stable unit, has experienced a catastrophic breakdown, resulting in a tragic shooting at Apalachee High School. In a disturbing series of events, 14-year-old Colt Gray and his father Colin Gray have been charged with the murder of two students and two teachers. The motive behind the tragic act lies in a tumultuous year of family separation and unresolved issues.

A year before the incident, Colt was investigated for an online threat to carry out a school shooting, but he was ultimately acquitted due to insufficient evidence. Despite this, Colt's father, Colin, bought his son a semi-automatic rifle, a decision now being questioned in light of the tragedy. This paternal encouragement of gun ownership proved to be a serious misstep.

The family's problems escalated after an eviction in July 2022, which resulted in Colin's wife moving out with Colt's younger siblings. Left alone, Colt struggled with bullying at school and a broken family environment. Despite previous warnings and Colt's signs of distress, the growing problems went unheeded until they culminated in one of Georgia's most devastating school massacres.
