Former MP Balkaur Singh quits BJP and plans to join Congress

Sirsa (Haryana) [India]September 7 (ANI): Former MP Balkaur Singh on Saturday resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party in Haryana and plans to join the Congress.

Singh submitted his resignation to BJP state president Mohanlal Badoli, saying that despite his support for the party during difficult times, he had not received the respect he deserved.

“I worked wholeheartedly for the party and held the BJP flag high under difficult circumstances. Despite this, I did not receive the respect for it either in the organisation or in a government post,” said the former MP.

Balkaur Singh also criticised BJP candidate Rajendra Desujodha, saying former chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar had made serious allegations against the candidate in 2019.

“CM Manohal Lal has made serious allegations against him that he is selling drugs, his family is selling drugs and even shooting has taken place in the village. We did not know this before. The Bharatiya Janata Party's election list is wrong. I have also asked the senior party leaders what they are saying about me for calling him (Rajendra Desujodha) a drug smuggler. I and the people of my constituency are saddened by this,” he added.

He also criticised the BJP for claiming that it would stop drug abuse in the state and seize the properties of drug smugglers, but no action was taken against the candidate. “Now we want to see what action will be taken against the candidate who has already been appointed, what investigation will be done into his properties,” the former MP said.

The former MP will join the Congress party after his trip to Delhi.

“Today, I will go to Delhi with my supporters led by former chief minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda and Kumari Selja and join the Congress. I will continue to serve the people,” the former MP said. (ANI)
