New Age | Three people killed in road accident in Sirajganj

Three people, including a man and his son, were killed and 10 others injured when a bus rammed into a truck on the west side of Bangabandhu Bridge in Sirajganj district on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Rais Uddin, 62, his son Alif Hasan, 27, and Chandra Shekhar, 33, son of Sudhangshu Shekhar.

Abdul Kader Jilani, head of operations at Bangabandhu Bridge West police station, said the accident occurred at around 5.30 am near bridge pier number 13 when the Dhaka-bound Paribahan bus 'Dhaka Express' from Sirajganj collided with a truck from behind, killing three people at the accident site and injuring 10 others.

The injured were taken to Sirajganj General Hospital.

The front part of the bus was bent in the accident.

After the accident, vehicle traffic over the bridge was stopped for some time.
