Two-year-old boy stabbed to death by six-year-old brother in Joliet, police report

A two-year-old boy was apparently stabbed to death by his brother in a Joliet home on Friday.

Officers responded to a reported stabbing at about 5 p.m. at a home in the 2700 block of Fairway Drive in the southwest suburb, Joliet police said.

The boy was found with numerous stab wounds and taken to St. Joseph Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

According to police, preliminary investigations indicate that the boy's six-year-old brother stabbed him with a kitchen knife.

The investigation is ongoing and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services has been notified of the incident.
