Morehead City Police Investigate Stabbing and Robbery

MOREHEAD CITY, NC (WITN) – Police are investigating a possible robbery and stabbing in an Eastern Carolina city.

On Friday, Morehead City police were called to a suspected stabbing and robbery shortly after 3 p.m. When they arrived, the victim was found with a stab wound near Happycakes Cupcakery, 278 Highway 24, according to police.

Morehead City EMS transported the victim to Carteret Health Care with minor injuries. Firefighters said that despite officers' quick arrival and speaking with several people in the area, there were no witnesses to the incident.

Morehead City police, the Carteret County Sheriff's Office and two tracking dogs searched the area for more than two hours for the suspect. Police said traffic in the area reopened around 5:15 p.m. As of 6 p.m., no suspect had been found and the investigation is ongoing.

According to the police, there is no ongoing danger to the population.
