Man arrested for attempted murder in connection with Fargo stabbing

FARGO, ND (Valley News Live) – A Moorhead man wanted in connection with a stabbing in Fargo has been arrested.

Joshua Potter, 35, is charged with attempted murder in connection with the June stabbing. He was located and taken into custody on Thursday, September 5.

On June 19, police were called to the hospital for a victim with stab wounds. Investigators say the stabbing occurred in the 1300 block of 43rd Street South.

According to court documents, video surveillance shows Potter, the victim and his girlfriend leaving Walmart in a van. Potter was seen driving, the other two were in the back seat.

According to court documents, they went to the Caseys' gas station to make calls using the Wi-Fi. Potter then drove away before the victim finished making calls, leading to an argument between the two.

The victim's girlfriend told police that Potter stopped the car, got in the back seat and began stabbing the victim.

According to documents, after stabbing the victim, Potter got back in the driver's seat and drove to the hospital while apologizing for his actions. Officials say Potter and the victim knew each other.

According to police, the victim suffered a tear in the carotid artery, which required immediate surgery.

According to court documents, the victim's girlfriend was arrested on unrelated warrants.
