New season of “Who’s Stealing My Show”: The beginning is embarrassing!

Joko Winterscheidt is back – and with him the most successful quiz show of recent years: On Sunday, a new season of “Who will steal my show?” starts on Pro.7. Every week, three celebrities and one viewer compete against Winterscheidt – and whoever wins doesn't get any money, but gets to host the show the following week. But it won't be easy for the candidates – on the contrary: things get off to an embarrassing start for the quizzers in the first episode on Sunday at 8:15 p.m. on Pro.7…

Big question on “Who’s Stealing the Show?”: What does the Pro in Pro.7 actually stand for?

In the new season, viewers can look forward to Comedian Kurt Krömer, podcaster and presenter Tommi Schmidt and singer and rapper Nina Chuba I'm looking forward to it. In each show, the three and a viewer compete in various games, collect points – and whoever gets the most points gets to compete against Joko Winterscheidt in the final. Who will manage to literally steal the show?

As different as the games at “Who’s stealing my show?” one thing is always the same: the first quiz round always revolves around five supposedly simple questions. And thus always offers the participants the chance to embarrass themselves right from the start… This is also the case in the first show of the new season. “They are super simple questions,” says Winterscheidt at the beginning. And he immediately gives the participants the first question: “What does the 'Pro' in ProSieben stand for?” There is a brief silence, then a laugh goes through the crowd. “You're not serious,” says Kurt Krömer. And Tommi Schmidt asks: “What?” In all honesty: could YOU have answered the question?

In any case, Joko Winterscheidt is deadly serious. “You are a guest on this channel, that's where it's broadcast, so they're probably thinking about it beforehand.” The celebrities and the viewer candidate Chanielle struggle to come up with answers. Tommi Schmidt guesses “production” – wrong. Kurz Krömer chooses “problem”, but is also completely wrong. Viewer Chanielle guesses that the “pro” means “for”, also the opposite of “against”. “Unfortunately, that's not true,” Joko Winterscheidt has to admit.

Nina has the right solution: THAT is what the “Pro” in Pro stands for.7

Only Nina Chuba is right – with the simplest explanation that unfortunately no one else has come up with. “I would say: Since Pro.7 is always on the seven on television, it is possibly the seventh program.” Joko Winterscheidt agrees: “It is program number seven!” Founding managing director Georg Kofler chose the number because it is a lucky number for many. “That's why they said: they take the seven – and the program is in seventh place.” Hand on heart: could they have answered the question?

What the participants in the show were expecting will be seen by viewers at the weekend: “Who will steal my show” is broadcast every Sunday at 8:15 p.m. on Pro.7. Will one of the celebrities succeed in stealing the show from Joko Winterscheidt? Whoever manages to do that can design the show the following week as they wish. The rule has already led to some great productions in the past: comedian Bastian Pastewka staged his version of “Who will steal my show” in the style of the old Saturday night shows, his colleague Anke Engelke brought an ESC show to the studio – and actor Matthias Schweighöfer even dug the classic game “Aushalten – Nicht lachen” by Joko and Klaas out of the mothballs for his games. ■
