Gordon Ramsay describes a bicycle accident that left him bleeding and blurred vision

After his serious bicycle accident, Gordon Ramsay is no longer able to care for himself.

The TV chef opened up about his condition after he was thrown from his bike in June. Ramsay explained his bike spun 180 degrees as he was thrown into the air by a pothole. The 57-year-old tried to fix his chain and carry on riding when he noticed his helmet had split in half.

Then Ramsay noticed blood and his vision blurred. “I honestly thought I was going to faint,” he recalled in an interview with Men's Health UK.

“I couldn't even put my damn socks and pants on,” Ramsay explained of his recovery. “Justin used to get me dressed in the morning. I felt like a damn 95-year-old man. Asking a 30-year-old boy to put on my damn underpants was embarrassing.”

After recovering from his injuries, Ramsay was fit again.

I think about the pace I'm working at and the responsibilities I'm taking on and then I think about my drive; fitness is the foundation,” he explained to Men's Health UK. “You're on your own, up a mountain, on a bike, on a trail, running, swimming. I find training relaxing because it just takes me out of that fast lane.”

The celebrity chef has no plans to take a shorter path in his life any time soon.

“I could sit back, put my feet up, buy a boat and run off to the Caribbean, but I'm not interested in that,” he admitted. “I love playing Jeopardy… and I can do it because I'm fit. I can do it because I have the drive. When I don't have the drive anymore, I'll decide to hang up my hat.”
