The sexual harassment lawsuit against former Jacksonville Jaguars kicker Brandon McManus and the organization was dismissed Tuesday, according to ESPN's Michael DiRocco. The lawsuit was refiled Friday afternoon after the two women accused in the lawsuit identified themselves in it, which was the reason the lawsuit was dismissed.

Florida Judge Michael S. Sharrit on Tuesday granted a motion to dismiss the lawsuit because the two women in the suit used the pseudonyms “Jane Doe I” and “Jane Doe II” to remain anonymous. The judge ruled that the lawsuit did not meet the “exceptional case” criteria needed to remain anonymous and that “fairness requires that plaintiffs be willing to publicly stand behind their allegations, just as defendant McManus must openly refute them.”

The women had 10 days to amend the lawsuit, stating their names, which they officially did on Friday.

“Most defendants in sexual assault cases file these types of motions with the belief that victims will not go forward if they are forced to publicly reveal their names,” their attorney Tony Buzbee said in a statement to ESPN. “We expected this ruling. To be clear, these women have no intention of running away and hiding and will immediately comply with the court's order. We look forward to continuing to prosecute this important case.”

The Jaguars declined to comment. McManus has long denied the allegations against him.

“We are very pleased with the court's decision in connection with Mr. McManus' motion to dismiss these baseless allegations,” McManus' attorney Brett Gallaway said in a statement Tuesday via ESPN. “We look forward to him returning to the NFL field as soon as possible.”

McManus was accused of sexual assault in the lawsuit filed in May following an incident on the Jaguars' flight to London for a game last year.

The women worked as flight attendants on the charter flight to London ahead of the team's game against the Atlanta Falcons at Wembley Stadium in September 2023. The flight quickly, the women said, “turned into a party.”

Among other things, the women claimed that McManus and others had disregarded their privacy, flight safety and federal law. McManus allegedly recruited flight attendants for the party and handed out $100 bills to get them to drink and dance for him. One woman said McManus tried to kiss her while she was sitting during turbulence, and both women said he rubbed himself against them multiple times during meal service on the plane.

When one woman confronted McManus, she said he “grinned and walked away.” The other woman said she stayed on the second level of the plane on the return flight to avoid him.

In the lawsuit, the women also named the Jaguars as suspects for allegedly failing to supervise McManus and create a safe environment on board the plane.

McManus converted 30 of 37 field goals and made all of his extra points with the Jaguars last season, his first with the team after spending the first nine years of his career with the Denver Broncos. He signed a one-year contract with the Washington Commanders earlier this offseason, but the team released him after the lawsuit was filed.
