Suspects sought after arson in Surrey, BC that killed family pet

Authorities are asking the public for help in identifying two suspects in an arson attack in Surrey, British Columbia, that damaged a family's home and killed one of their pets.

In the early hours of June 29, emergency services were called to a house on Grosvenor Road to extinguish a fire that had caused significant damage to the roof of the building.

In a press release, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) of Surrey said that all residents managed to escape, but “unfortunately, one of the family's pets did not make it and perished in the fire.”

Meanwhile, investigators have obtained surveillance video that shows two suspects allegedly setting fire to a pile of personal items near the house, causing it to catch fire.

RCMP said both suspects were wearing dark hoodies, dark pants and dark shoes. Authorities described one of them as being of medium build and the other – who was riding a BMX bike – as having a large build.

Authorities have asked anyone with information about the incident or dashcam video taken around the time of the fire in the 14000 block of Grosvenor to contact the Surrey RCMP detachment at 604-599-0502.
