6 construction workers fall from the 20th floor of a building under construction; 3 dead

Last Thursday, a major incident took place in Malad, Mumbai. Six construction workers fell from the 20th floor of Navjeevan Building in Malad East, leaving three workers dead and the remaining three in serious condition. The injured workers are currently undergoing treatment. The cause of the accident is said to be the collapse of a slab of the under-construction SRA building. Following the incident, Dindoshi police filed charges under sections 106(1) and 125(a) 125(b) of the BNS Act against five persons, including the site manager, contractor and other personnel. However, no arrest has been made so far. Local residents are expressing their frustration with the contractor and the government. Kamlesh Yadav, a resident of the building, stated that the construction project is being managed by a person named Devendra Pandey. There have been several complaints against the contractor, citing poor construction quality and the recent collapse of the slab. Local residents also criticize the engineers and foremen responsible for quality control, accusing them of failing in their duties. They believe that the government is also to blame for not paying enough attention to safety concerns and not caring about the lives of the people involved.
