A man has been charged with first-degree murder after a 22-year-old was stabbed to death in a downtown Edmonton parking garage on Wednesday.

At around 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday, police responded to a weapons complaint at a parking garage on the corner of 101st Street and 102nd Avenue. When they arrived, they found a man with “significant injuries,” officers said in a news release sent Thursday but dated Friday.

Paramedics treated him, but he died at the scene, police said.

An autopsy on Thursday revealed that 22-year-old Jashandeep Maan died of “multiple sharp force injuries” in a murder, police said.

“We can confirm that the two men did not know each other and that this appears to be an isolated incident,” said Staff Sergeant Colin Leathem. “The accused remained on scene, was quickly arrested by our officers and we have no further public safety concerns at this time.”

Edgar Wesker, 40, was charged with premeditated murder and taken into custody, police said.

If you have any information about Maan's murder, contact police at 780-423-4567 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
