The accident took place late yesterday evening, shortly after 11 p.m., when an 18-year-old VW driver was driving along Glemseckstrasse towards the city center.

As the police announced on Friday, they failed to see a 70-year-old VW Touran driver rushing towards them from the right at the intersection with Ramtelstrasse, driving out of town, after which a collision could no longer be prevented.

The force of the collision hurled the two vehicles onto a traffic island, where a traffic sign was torn from its anchorage.
