New York judge decides to postpone Trump's verdict

The news

The judge in the criminal case against Donald Trump will decide on Friday whether the verdict against the former US president will be postponed until after the US elections.

Judge Juan Merchan presided over the trial in which Trump was found guilty on 34 counts of falsifying business records to cover up a sex scandal. Trump's legal team asked him to delay sentencing from the scheduled September 18 date until after the election: His decision “could affect not only the election but American politics for years to come,” the New York Times reported.

Merchan has already postponed sentencing once. Meanwhile, Trump has announced his economic plans, including a proposal to reduce the corporate tax rate for companies that manufacture in the United States to 15%.
