Jessica Pegula will attempt to become the second American in a row to win the women's singles title at the US Open on Saturday.

Pegula recovered from a set down to defeat Karolina Muchova and prepare for a final clash with Aryna Sabalenka.

Sabalenka has been a regular in the finals of major tournaments in recent seasons. She has a huge experience advantage over her American opponent.

Pegula's hunt for the $3.6 million prize money comes in her first-ever major tournament final.

In her previous major appearances, Pegula did not make it past the quarterfinals.

The experience of reaching the final of a major tournament makes the huge difference between Sabalenka and Pegula.

On Saturday, Sabalenka will be looking to win her fourth major tournament in the last two years. All of her major final appearances have taken place on hard courts at the Australian Open and the US Open.

The No. 2 seed started strongly in her only US Open final last fall, but then lost the next two sets to Coco Gauff.

Sabalenka has a direct record against Pegula of 5:2. Her last victory came in the final in Cincinnati at one of the preparation tournaments for the US Open.

Pegula had to fight to even reach the US Open final, defeating number one seed Iga Swiatek in straight sets in the quarterfinals and then having to hold out until the end to eliminate Muchova in the semifinals.

Sabalenka won her quarterfinal match against Zheng Qinwen with ease and only had one difficult set against Emma Navarro in the first semifinal on Thursday.

Pegula will have the Arthur Ashe Stadium crowd on her side and she may need the extra encouragement from the fans to face Sabalenka.

The sixth-seeded American has only one win over Sabalenka in her last six direct encounters.

Pegula has proven in her last two matches that she is capable of taking the next step at the majors, but winning three grueling matches in a row may be too difficult a task.

Prediction: Sabalenka wins 2-0
