Jumped from motorcycle: Bad Oeynhausener tries to avoid crash and gets seriously injured

Bad Salzuflen. In the district of Lippe, four vehicles were involved in an accident late on Tuesday evening, September 3. A 62-year-old from Bad Oeynhausen was seriously injured.

The police reported that a 21-year-old woman from Bad Salzuflen was driving her BMW 1 Series on Werler Strasse towards Dorfstrasse at around 10.30 p.m. and wanted to turn left at the intersection. She apparently overlooked a motorcyclist who was driving towards Herford.

The 62-year-old driver from Bad Oeynhausen jumped off his Kawasaki to avoid a physical collision with the car. The 21-year-old finally noticed the driverless motorcycle approaching her and swerved.

The motorcycle's lights were apparently off

A 56-year-old from Herford was also driving his Mitsubishi Space Star towards Herford and failed to see the motorcycle lying on the road, causing him to collide with it. As a result, the Kawasaki was pushed into oncoming traffic and collided with the Mitsubishi Outlander of a 47-year-old from Lage, who was on his way to Lage.

According to witnesses, the motorcycle's lights were off at the time of the accident. The Kawasaki was seized for further investigation.

Witnesses to accident sought

The 62-year-old from Bad Oeynhausen suffered serious injuries when he jumped out of his vehicle and was taken to hospital. The Herford man's Mitsubishi had to be towed away. In total, the vehicles sustained damage amounting to around 13,000 euros.

The traffic police investigation is ongoing. Witnesses who can provide further information about the accident should call 05231 6090.
