According to Ukraine: Russian attacks cause at least five injuries and fires

KIEV (Reuters) – Russian attacks on Ukraine caused fires across the country overnight and injured at least five people, local authorities said on Friday.

The Ukrainian Air Force said it had shot down 27 of the 44 drones launched by Russia overnight, and eight more had been shot down “probably by electronic warfare.”

Russia also used two missiles in the attack, the Air Force said in a statement via the messaging service Telegram.

The governor of the northeastern Kharkiv region said a rocket attack damaged residential buildings and injured three people in the town of Lyubotyn on Friday morning.

Dnipropetrovsk Region Governor Serhiy Lysak said the Air Force had shot down five drones and one missile over the region.

In separate night attacks in this central region, two people were injured, more than 12 houses were damaged and electricity and gas lines were disrupted, he added.

Lviv region authorities said debris from a drone fell in an industrial zone, setting fire to four trucks. A team of 32 firefighters had put out the fire by morning, and the governor reported that no one was injured in the attack.

Another fire caused by falling debris was extinguished in the southern region of Mykolaiv, where the air force shot down seven drones, the governor said.
