September 5th is a holiday that all of New Jersey should celebrate

If you're anything like me, you never even realized how important Thursday is. As a native and raised New Jerseyan, I'm ashamed.

Anyone who has lived in the Garden State for more than a week knows how passionate we are about our pizza. Did you know that Thursday, September 5th is National Cheese Pizza Day?

September 5th is a day to celebrate what I consider to be a perfect meal. Some people (including my broadcast partner Jeff Deminski) insist that a slice of pizza needs some kind of topping, but I say if it ain't broke…don't fix it.

Dave Portnoy of Barstool Sports recently conducted his famous “One Bite Pizza Reviews” at several Garden State pizzerias, always rating the pizzeria's basic slice. If it's good enough for El Presidente, it's good enough for me.

While I defend plain cheese pizza, did you know that it is estimated that more than 200,000 pounds of pizza cheese were produced in the United States in 1997?

Two billion pounds!

Take that, haters. In my opinion, that's a reason to celebrate.

The national holiday calendar offers several options:

🍕 Order or bake your own cheese pizza.
🍕 Try a new recipe.
🍕 Host a cheese pizza party. Invite friends to make their favorite cheese pizzas and enjoy each other's company.
🍕 You can even try to break a world record. Make the biggest or thinnest cheese pizza.

Before you go partying, let me know if I'm weird for loving plain pizza in this poll:

New Jersey picks its favorite pizzerias

Pizza is one of the hottest topics in the entire Garden State, if not the hottest thing ever. Everyone has a place they're loyal to, and everyone always finds it better than their favorite. Bill Spadea spent a few hours taking calls from listeners who told him where the definitive best pizza places in New Jersey are. Here's some of what they found out.
