Suspected Georgia high school shooter charged with quadruple murder

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, a 14-year-old is charged with four counts of murder in connection with the fatal shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia.

Colt Gray is expected to appear in court on Friday, the agency said.

Authorities believe Gray opened fire at the high school on Wednesday, killing two students and two teachers and wounding nine others.

“This is the second day of a very complex investigation and the integrity of the case is of the utmost importance,” the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said in a statement to X. “We ask for the public's patience as we work to ensure a successful prosecution and justice for the victims.”

The Barrow County Sheriff's Office said it would not release bodycam video or audio to “protect the integrity of the investigation,” but added that incident and arrest reports would be released as soon as they were available.

The FBI said Wednesday that local authorities questioned the 2023 teenager after receiving anonymous tips about online threats to carry out a school shooting. The agency said the boy denied the threats, and his father said his son did not have “unsupervised” access to hunting weapons in the home.

“At that time, there was no probable cause for an arrest or for further law enforcement action at the local, state or federal level,” the FBI wrote.

The GBI said it had no evidence of additional shooters but was “pursuing all leads about possible accomplices of the shooter.”
