Report: Hunter Biden pleads guilty in tax case

The change was made shortly before jury selection began on Thursday. It would have been the second criminal trial against the president's son this year. According to NBC News, the court went into recess shortly after the announcement.

Hunter Biden, 54, was charged in December with three felonies and six misdemeanors, alleging that he failed to pay his taxes during a period of his life when he was under the influence of illegal drugs.

If the judge accepts the guilty plea, it would spare the younger Biden the next two weeks or so in court. Prosecutors had planned to call about two dozen witnesses and reveal unflattering details about Hunter Biden's lavish spending habits and his overseas business dealings.
