Trump pleads not guilty to revised election interference charges | RJR News

Donald Trump has pleaded not guilty to new federal charges against him for alleged attempts to interfere in the 2020 election.

Jack Smith, the special counsel in the case, updated the wording of the charges last week after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that presidents enjoy broad immunity from criminal prosecution for their official actions.

Trump denies allegations that he pressured authorities to overturn the results of the 2020 election, knowingly spread lies about election fraud and exploited an insurrection at the U.S. Capitol to delay the certification of Joe Biden's victory.

At an indictment in Washington on Thursday, his lawyers officially pleaded not guilty on his behalf.
