Honduran man accused of stabbing teenager to death now charged with attempted murder – 95.3 MNC

A Honduran man accused of stabbing a teenager to death in northwest Indiana last weekend is charged with attempted murder.

Dimas Gabriel Yanes was arrested Sunday following a manhunt in Lake County, Indiana.

According to authorities, the stabbing occurred Saturday at the VFW baseball field near the corner of West 173rd and Morse streets in Lowell while the 13-year-old girl was watching her brother's baseball game.

The victim was treated and released from the hospital. Officials say Yanes was deported to Honduras in 2018 but returned to the United States illegally.

When police searched for Yanes, they eventually found him in a Lake County apartment, in the process of shaving his head to change his appearance.
