“I am not selfish, I will campaign for Bawumia” – explains Kennedy Agyapong | Politics

Kennedy Agyapong has reiterated that he is not selfish and will do everything in his power to campaign for Dr Bawumia so that he can lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to a historic victory on December 7.

He explained that the NPP's defeat in the presidential primaries to Dr. Bawumia did not mean that he (Kennedy) should sit idly by and fold his arms and watch his beloved NPP try to retain political power.

Addressing a large crowd of NPP members and sympathisers in Abossey Okai in the Greater Accra Region, he called on all disgruntled NPP members to return to the battlefield and campaign for the party.

“I would be a selfish person if I did not campaign for Dr. Bawumia,” said Kennedy Agyapong, who was with Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, alias “Napo,” the NPP’s vice-presidential candidate.

“If you belong to a political party and you lose an election, you don't leave the party because you didn't win. That makes you a sore loser. That is why I appeal to all our disgruntled members to come back to the NPP.

“I take myself as an example: I contested the NPP presidential election and lost, but I am here campaigning for Dr. Bawumia who won the election to lead our great party to victory,” said Kennedy Agyapong.

If he does not campaign for the NPP, he believes this would indicate that his campaign slogan “Ghana First” was misleading. “That would mean that my 'Ghana First' slogan is about me,” he said.

The NPP MP for Assin Central also used the opportunity to appeal to all disgruntled NPP members in Abossey Okai Constituency to forgive and forget the past and unite and work for the party.

“Seeing me on a campaign platform tonight should motivate NPP members in Abossey Okai who have lost an election or feel the party has not treated them well to learn from me and to forgive and forget.”

Kennedy Agyapong, who is very popular with the NPP across the country, also urged NPP members to remain united and “go door to door to campaign for the party’s victory in the presidential and parliamentary elections.”
