“The Sexiest Doctor in the World” is a doctor from Chatham: Dr. Mike talks about his rise to fame on the Dax Shepard Podcast

Mikhail Varshavski, better known as “Dr. Mike,” is a guest in the episode of Dax Shepard’s “Experts for experts” Podcast – an offshoot of the “Armchair Expert” podcast.

Varshavski is a General Practitioner at Chatham Family Medicine and has 12.6 million subscribers on YouTube.

On “Experts on Expert,” Varshavski talks with Shepard and co-host Monica Padman about his rise to fame, his role as the son of immigrant parents, and various health-related topics.

Varshavski admits his “viral moment” was “all about looks” after being named PEOPLE's “Sexiest Doctor Alive” in 2015, but he wanted to “make something meaningful out of it.”

He started with charity by auctioning off a date and donating the proceeds (a six-figure sum).

He also said he got a lot of invitations to appear on television, but always talked about something health-related. Varshavski said that worked for about two weeks.

Varshavski decided to move to social media, saying that by doing so he “took out some gatekeepers.”

Varshavski, Shepard and Padman also discussed some of the most alarming trends in nutrition: intermittent fasting, keto diets and carnivore diets are among them, the doctor said. He ultimately agreed with Layne Norton that it ultimately comes down to a calorie deficit.

Shepard recently signed a deal for “Armchair Expert” with Amazon’s podcast company Wondery. The deal is said to be worth $80 million.
