Birmingham Bears suffered an agonising two-wicket defeat to Essex in the quarter-finals of last season's T20 Blast at Edgbaston, but will be expected to make amends against visitors Gloucestershire in the quarter-finals.

The Bears finished top of the North group after winning ten of their 14 games, with a win in the quarter-finals securing them a place on final day, which takes place at their Birmingham stadium on September 14.

However, they will be wary of Bears spinner Danny Briggs, who topped the group stage bowling chart with 27 wickets. The experienced left-hander took 3-24 against Derbyshire and 3-30 against Leicestershire in his last two Blast matches at Edgbaston and could play a starring role again.
