A court in Hua Hin Bail granted to suspicious involved in the fatal shooting of Sergeant Punch in a Local pubThe head of the Police Affairs Monitoring Committee of Hua Hin Police Station confirmed the suspect's release to ensure an impartial investigation and to reassure the victim's family.

Jagkrit, 34, an adviser to the Police Affairs Supervisory Committee in Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan province, was accused of shooting dead 31-year-old Sergeant Rochnaporn, also known as Sergeant Punch, a soldier from Thanarat Camp in Pranburi, with a firearm.

The incident occurred after a brawl at a pub in Soi Hua Hin 80 in Hua Hin township. Three bystanders were injured by stray bullets in the altercation, which took place late at night on August 18. Sergeant Punch's family said they would not cremate his body until justice is done.

At 4pm yesterday, August 19, reports emerged that the Hua Hin Provincial Court had approved Jagkrit's bail and set the bail at 500,000 baht. Worapot Limakom, chairman of the Hua Hin Police Affairs Supervisory Committee, said that the committee had reacted quickly after the incident and formed a panel to investigate and verify the facts.

When the committee found evidence of Jagkrit's misconduct, it unanimously decided to relieve him of his advisory position. This decision came into effect on August 18, the day of the incident.

This step was intended to enable the police to carry out their work carefully and to give Sergeant Punch's family the assurance that the perpetrator would not receive preferential treatment.

Regarding the appointment of consultants, Worapot stressed that there is a standard procedure for background checks. As long as no criminal record or dubious past is found, a person can take up a consultant role. This process is straightforward and without any complexity.

“The committee has taken all necessary steps to ensure a fair and transparent investigation. We want the public and the victim's family to know that the Hua Hin Police Affairs Monitoring Committee will not tolerate any misconduct.”

The fatal shooting has also brought increased attention to the establishment where the incident occurred. The pub in Soi Hua Hin 80, which did not have a proper license, has been closed for five years. Police are taking legal action against the owner for running an illegal establishment, KhaoSod reported.
