Adilabad BJP MP G Nagesh

Hyderabad: BJP MP from Adilabad G Nagesh accused the state government of trying to cover up the alleged sexual assault of a 45-year-old tribal woman and attempted murder by a man from another community in Jainoor town on August 31.

He also accused the government of trying to give the incident a communal veneer and stoke tensions between communities.

In a press conference on Thursday, Nagesh alleged that the state government was trying to create an impression that no such incident had taken place and that the opposition was trying to communize the issue.

The incident took place on August 31 and the FIR was registered only on September 3 after the tribal organisation organised a protest. This is an indication that the government is trying to dilute the case, he claimed.

The BJP MP slammed Panchayat Raj Minister Danasari Anasuya, alleging that the minister was trying to mislead people by claiming that the victim's family members had told her that nothing had happened to her.

“Family members of the victims have refuted the minister's claims and told the BJP Mahila Morcha leader that she was attacked by the auto driver. The government is trying to buy their silence by providing financial help,” he alleged.

He demanded that the government immediately withdraw the cases filed against tribals during the protest march in Jainoor town and asked the authorities to take strict action against the accused.
