TV award: Duel between Böhmermann and “Let's Dance” at the television award

ZDF versus RTL, satire versus samba: This year's German Television Awards will see a duel between presenter Jan Böhmermann and the RTL dance show “Let's Dance”. This is evident from the list of nominations that the award jury published on Thursday. Both Böhmermann's ZDF show “Lass dichüberwachung!” and the RTL ratings hit with dancing celebrities have received three nominations in the entertainment category – and in the same categories. Both formats can therefore hope for awards for “Best Entertainment Show”, “Best Direction Entertainment” and “Best Equipment Entertainment”.

In the fictional productions, the drama series “Die Zweifler” from ARD is the big favorite. It tops the list with six nominations. It is followed by “Deutsches Haus” (Disney+) with four nominations. “Push” (ZDFneo) and the comedy series “Legend of Wacken” (RTL+).

The award is sponsored by ARD, RTL, Sat.1, ZDF and Deutsche Telekom. The streaming providers Disney+, Netflix and Prime Video are partners. This year, the WDR representative for the ARD has taken the lead. The awards will be presented in two shows in Cologne on September 24 and 25.
