New series captivates Netflix audience

A new drama series is currently captivating Netflix audiences. “Grey's Anatomy” fans in particular should get their money's worth with the production.

Hospital series such as “Grey's Anatomy”, “ER” and “Dr. House” have shown us in the past that the subgenre of medical drama is extremely popular. If you like to be transported into the realms of everyday hospital life from the comfort of your couch, you will probably also “Breathless” (original title: “Respira”) could be a series for you.

Because the current Netflix Charts The Spanish production depicts everyday life in the fictional Joaquín Sorolla Hospital in Valencia. The employees are confronted with numerous challenges: increasing numbers of patients, an impending strike and the emotional stress typical of the professional sector are driving the professionals crazy. In contrast to many other hospital series, the focus here is on a realistic approach that aims to portray everyday working life as authentically as possible.

“Atemlos” was developed by Carlos Montero (“Elite”), which, in addition to Guillermo J. Escribano (“Elite”), Pablo Paiz and Carlos Ruano (“Piscina”) as a screenwriter. The eight episodes of the recently released first season were written by David Pinillos (“Invader”) and Marta Font Pascual (“Crime Game”).

The reactions to “Breathless”

There are hardly any reviews for “Breathless” on Rotten Tomatoes, but in the Internet Movie Database (IMDb) the usual average rating is 6.2 out of 10 stars with around 690 entries. The following lines tell you what the first reactions to the hospital series have to say:

“If you've seen 'Grey's Anatomy' you know what it's about.” More or less all of these shows are the same, with more or less drama and since this is a Spanish series that means drama, drama, drama, drama. I have to say that I really enjoy the acting of almost all the characters and sometimes I have to remind myself that [die Geschichte] is not real.”

“I find [die Charaktere] more credible than other characters [aus anderen Serien]especially the Americans, where doctors and nurses always have perfect hair and make-up even after a 24-hour shift and the patients are in perfect shape even the day after a serious operation. I had a lot of fun.”
