Another day, another delay in the Musa Khawula murder case

Controversial blogger and social media star Musa Khawula has requested an isiZulu interpreter for his murder trial, which has now been postponed to October 1.

The high-profile case continues to attract public attention because Musa is well-known on the internet and the charges are serious.

National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) Western Cape spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila confirmed the delay, saying: “Musa Khawula’s case was pending before the Vredenburg Magistrate’s Court and was remanded to 1 October for judicial confirmation. [to secure] isiZulu interpreter,” TimeLive.

Musa, who gained a large following with his biting and often controversial comments about South African celebrities, is accused of stabbing his then-boyfriend Wandile Khambule to death in March 2022.

In a candid interview, Musa admitted to stabbing and killing Wandile but insisted his actions were in self-defense, it was reported IOL.

The murder trial is just one of several legal battles Musa has been involved in in recent years. He is serving a 60-day jail sentence for failing to appear in a Gauteng court in a civil case.

In another notable case, he was ordered to pay one million rand in damages and publish a public retraction after making defamatory allegations against Nozuko Mbalula, the wife of ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula, and her business partner Michelle Perrow.

Musa had accused the couple of bribery in securing government contracts worth R150 million.

He was also found guilty in another libel case against businessman Jade Harris Orren.
