Hezbollah says it has attacked the Israeli settlement of Neot Mordechai with rockets for the first time

The Lebanese Hezbollah group announced on Wednesday that it had attacked the Israeli settlement of Neot Mordechai for the first time with a barrage of Katyusha rockets.

In a statement, Hezbollah said it fired a salvo of Katyusha rockets at Neot Mordechai, just six kilometers from the Lebanese-Israeli border.

The attack came amid ongoing hostilities. Hezbollah said its attacks were in retaliation for Israeli artillery attacks on southern Lebanese villages such as Ayta ash Shab and Khiam.

Hezbollah also reported that it launched attacks on several Israeli military positions, including artillery positions at the Zaoura military base and troop stations at the Zarit military barracks.

Earlier on Wednesday, a woman was killed and seven others, including a child, were injured in Israeli attacks on various areas in southern Lebanon. Fires also broke out in some regions.

The Lebanese Health Ministry said in a statement that Israeli artillery shelling of the town of Qabrikha in southern Lebanon resulted in the death of a woman and injuries to two others, including a 12-year-old child.

In a separate statement, the ministry noted that three people were injured in an Israeli airstrike on the town of Houla in southern Lebanon.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army claimed to have detected a salvo of rockets fired from Lebanon toward the Upper Galilee.

“A barrage of about 30 rockets was fired from Lebanon this evening into the Galilee panhandle,” the Times of Israel reported, citing the army.

It added that “some of the rockets were intercepted, while others hit open areas and sparked fires near Kfar Blum.”

The army reported no casualties.

Tensions have escalated along Lebanon's border with Israel amid cross-border attacks between Hezbollah and Israeli forces, while Tel Aviv continued its brutal assault on the Gaza Strip, which was launched by the Palestinian resistance group Hamas on October 7 last year and killed over 40,800 people.
