Vehicle-to-vehicle shooting in Coquitlam, BC: RCMP

A vehicle-to-vehicle shooting in Coquitlam on Tuesday night has prompted local Mounties to ask the public for more information.

The incident occurred around 10 p.m. on Coast Meridian Road between Highland Drive and David Avenue, police said in a press release Wednesday evening.

Officers were called to the scene because “several shots had been fired,” police said.

“Initial investigations indicate that a person in a vehicle fired shots at another vehicle,” the press release said.

“There are currently no reports of injuries.”

Police believe the shooting was an “isolated incident” between people who were “well known to the police.”

“Fortunately, no one was injured in this act of violence,” said Staff Sgt. Ed Yoshiyama of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police's Investigative Services Division in Coquitlam in the press release.

“As we are in the early stages of the investigation, we are asking anyone who may have witnessed the shooting on Coast Meridian Road between Highland Drive and David Avenue to contact police. We are also asking anyone with dashboard camera, cell phone or home surveillance video related to this incident between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 to contact Coquitlam RCMP.”
