Five suspects identified in connection with assault and robbery at Dick's House of Sport; crime scene footage released

The suspects were identified by Colonie Police. The suspects are between the ages of 15 and 21.

Several suspects in a brutal robbery at Dick's House of Sport are now being linked to a shooting in the area of Frederick and Central Avenue.

On Wednesday morning, investigators provided an update.

The group is accused of beating a father and his son with baseball bats in an attempt to steal their new Nike Air Jordan sneakers.

Both victims are expected to be fine, investigators said.

According to the police, a total of eight people are involved in the case. Six of them have already been identified and charged or are awaiting charges. The police are still looking for the other two.

At Dick's House of Sport, several of these suspects stole a pair of Air Jordans from a family by beating them with baseball bats they snatched from the store's shelves.

According to police, a photo of Lyric Jones surfaced on Snapchat showing the shoes they stole from a father and son at Dick's.

The shooting incident involved a sale on Facebook Marketplace that went wrong.

There was also a robbery with the aim of stealing sneakers. According to police, shots were fired.

“I am astonished, as probably all of you are, that people are so brazen to commit such acts, that they are willing to shoot individuals and beat them with baseball bats instead of shoes,” said Colonie Police Chief James Gerace.

Gerace said they have really gotten to the bottom of these cases thanks to community help and tips being passed on to police.

According to Gerace, an alert public helped police in their investigations and provided investigators with valuable clues.

“Our investigators worked around the clock, sometimes for over 24 hours without sleep, trying to get the ball that our citizens had dropped into the end zone and bring these suspects to justice,” Gerace said.
