Salmon Arm man in custody after woman stabbed, threatened: RCMP – Salmon Arm News

A 46-year-old man is behind bars after a Salmon Arm woman was stabbed to death over stolen baby photos, police said.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Salmon Arm were called on August 12 by a woman who reported being stabbed the previous day.

“Police received a statement from the woman in which she stated that the man had been harassing her for the past six months and accused her of stealing his shopping cart with baby photos in it,” said RCMP Constable Andrew Hodges.

“The woman continued to tell the man that she had not stolen his shopping cart or his baby photos.”

The woman said the man approached her and stabbed her with a knife after a verbal argument on August 11. She also said the man threatened to kill her if he ever saw her again.

Charges of assault, battery and uttering threats against 46-year-old Mark Salai were approved against the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Salmon Arm.

Officers were able to quickly locate and arrest Salai. He will remain in custody until his next court date.
