On “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” the audience joker is usually a great help. Not so in the current episode. Günther Jauch even calls for a “replacement audience”.

Cologne – The “3 million euro week” on “Who wants to be a millionaire?” is in full swing. On Wednesday (September 4th) the aim is to qualify for the final on Thursday evening. However, one candidate is now having to learn the hard way that you cannot always rely on the joker in the popular RTL quiz show with presenter Günther Jauch (68).

“Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” candidate stumbles on 4,000-euro question

Matthias Rütten (38) from Munich is the first candidate to make it to the guessing chair on “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” in his fourth attempt. Everything goes well until the project manager stumbles on the 4,000 euro question. The question that Günther Jauch asks him is: “What got its name because of a pipe that can be folded over?” A: fuel nozzle, B: goulash cannon, C: tin can, D: cannonball.”

Matthias Rütten is unsure and needs the support of a joker. Günther Jauch's promise of an “over 90 percent result” with the audience joker is promptly followed by disillusionment: only 53 percent of those present choose answer “C”, which is also the favored answer of the WWM candidate.

Günther Jauch surprised by the result of the audience joker: “I take everything back”

Surprised by the unexpected result of the audience joker, Günther Jauch, who recently gave tax tips in the middle of the show, jokes: “I take it all back. Director, where is our replacement audience? How quickly can we get it?” Despite the recommendation to add the “50:50” joker, Matthias Rütten sticks to his original choice with the words “That can only be the tin can”, which turns out to be a fatal mistake.

“Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” quizmaster Günther Jauch immediately pulls a face and explains: “The correct answer is the goulash cannon!” The 38-year-old’s fourth participation comes to an abrupt end. With only 500 euros, the candidate visibly leaves the studio in Hürth near Cologne, which is also being used by another presenter.
