Israeli military launches retaliatory strikes against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon

Tel-Aviv [Israel]September 4 (ANI): In response to the rocket attack on Israel, the country's military launched attacks on Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon on Wednesday.

The military said the retaliatory strikes came after dozens of rockets were fired from Lebanese territory.

The military further stated that Israeli air defenses intercepted about 65 rockets.

The Israel Defense Forces shared a post on X: “About 65 missiles were fired from Lebanese territory and passed into northern Israel.” “In response, the Israeli army is currently attacking Hezbollah terrorist targets in southern Lebanon,” the post on X continued.

Earlier, on August 25, the Israeli army said that Iran-backed Hezbollah had fired more than 200 rockets and drones at Israel's northern border, claiming it was in retaliation for the killing of its top commander, Fuad Shukr, in the Lebanese capital Beirut. This prompted retaliation from Israel, which bombed targets across southern Lebanon.

Israel said it had taken out about 1,000 Hezbollah rocket launchers in a coordinated operation by 100 Israeli warplanes early Sunday to thwart much of the planned attack, the Times of Israel reported.

Meanwhile, Israel has launched attacks not only on Lebanon but also on the north of the Gaza Strip.

At least six people were killed on Wednesday when Israeli forces fired on a group of Palestinian civilians in the northern Gaza Strip, Anadolu news agency reported, citing a medical source.

The witnesses said a group of people were hit by an artillery shell in the Sheikh Zayed Towers area in the north of the Gaza Strip as they gathered to receive an internet signal.

“The bodies of six people were taken to Indonesia and Kemal Adwan hospitals in northern Gaza,” the medical source said, according to Anadolu news agency. (ANI)
