St. Clair County man accused of stabbing family to death charged with attempted murder

FORT GRATIOT TOWNSHIP, MI. – A 33-year-old man was charged with attempted murder after a two-day manhunt in St. Clair County.

Brent Durrant is accused of stabbing family members at a Fort Gratiot Township home on Parker Road, near Krafft Road, on Aug. 29. Authorities say a 56-year-old man was stabbed multiple times and a 55-year-old woman had cuts on her hands. Multiple law enforcement agencies, the Fort Gratiot Fire Department and medical personnel arrived at the scene, but Durrant had already fled the area.

The St. Clair County Sheriff's Office confirmed Wednesday, Sept. 4, that Durrant was located and taken into custody on Aug. 31. Officials from the U.S. Coast Guard, Michigan State Police, Fort Gratiot Fire Department and others assisted.

On Tuesday, September 3, Durrant was charged with assault with intent to murder. His bail was set at $250,000.
