At least four people were reportedly shot at a high school in Georgia

Four people were killed in a shooting and at least nine others were hospitalized with injuries. Apalachee High School In Winder, Georgia, according to law enforcement sources. It is unclear how many of the injuries are gunshot wounds.

CNN reported that a student-age suspect was in custody, but it was unclear whether that person attended the school, the sources said.

A statement from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday afternoon confirmed that four people had died. “Nine others were taken to various hospitals with injuries,” the message said.

A curfew has been imposed in all schools in the district, but sources said there were no reports of further incidents or scenes.

Some of the seriously injured were transported by helicopter, and additional helicopters are on standby.

Apalachee High is part of the Barrow County school system. Winder is located about 50 miles northeast of downtown Atlanta.
