So what a pity! Supermassive has learned how to develop good games

But I don't want my characters to be irretrievably destroyed just because I missed a few buttons. There have to be better options, like a rewind function – that could at least be integrated as an option.

Nonetheless, Supermassive's titles have a certain entertainment value. Until Dawn already demanded a certain trash factor. Sitting in front of the screen with friends and watching the virtual group survive or die is fun. That's exactly why I put so much hope in every new project from Supermassive, because I expect a positive outlier like Until Dawn. Unfortunately, I've been rather disappointed so far.

Annoy the Entitus

Therefore, my highlights in The Casting of Frank Stone are only the passages in which I notice the parallels to the Dead by Daylight universe. As a fan of the multiplayer game, I am interested in the lore expansion and am happy about some Easter eggs.

I'm also so keen to find all the collectible Dead by Daylight dolls that I use the editing room floor to replay certain sections after completing the first playthrough. I want to find all the spooky collectables, after all.

And I liked the design of the character Frank Stone more and more towards the end of the game. I'm looking forward to a great killer in Dead by Daylight. I would be very surprised if Frank doesn't join the ranks of killers very soon.

The right decisions are needed

For the future of Supermassive, however, I hope that the team or teams will take more time and focus on their strengths. However, my trust in the developer has been dented.

In addition to The Casting of Frank Stone, the studio is working on two other titles at the same time. I doubt that this is the right path. Dark Pictures is starting its second season with Directive 8020. If the quality of the stuff doesn't change, I'll be in for another disappointment.

Supermassive will also be releasing Little Nightmares 3 in 2025. After the developer change from Tarsier to Supermassive, I am very curious to see whether the series will remain a success or whether it will also lose its reputation.

And then the remake of Until Dawn is coming out on October 4th. This fact alone shows how well and successfully the teen slaughterfest was received. But Supermassive has nothing to do with the new version; development is being handled by Ballistic Moon. I'm currently more excited about the remake than the sequel to the Dark Pictures series and Little Nightmares 3. And that's not a good sign.
