New date set for man who allegedly stabbed woman and pushed her off roof

A Lower Chichester man has been given a new hearing date after being found fit to stand trial on charges he stabbed a woman and pushed her off a roof last year. He is due to stand trial on attempted murder and related offences.

Anthony A. Mguidich, 20, of 1400 Tallylynn Avenue in Linwood, also faces charges of aggravated assault and possession of an instrument of crime in connection with the December 18 incident.

According to an affidavit from Patrolman Christopher Houpt and Delaware County Detective Vincent Port:

Police were dispatched to the scene of a stabbing at 7:32 a.m. and found the victim with a stab wound to the neck, lying bloodied on the lawn in front of 1601 Huddle Ave.

Officers treated the victim while they waited for paramedics to arrive. She was then transported to a nearby hospital where she was intubated and listed in critical condition.

Several witnesses said they saw a man on the second-story porch of a Huddle Avenue apartment building stab the victim with a silver-bladed knife and then throw him from the roof to the ground.

The man, later identified as Mguidich, went back into the house and police surrounded the property. He was eventually arrested at the scene.

The affidavit states that a large silver knife and a lot of blood were found in the area where Mguidich was arrested.

A motive for the alleged attack could not be given in the indictment.

Mguidich was given $1 million bail and was scheduled to have a preliminary hearing before Magistrate Judge David R. Griffin in January. That hearing never took place, however, and he was transferred to Norristown State Hospital for treatment in April.

Defense attorney Charles Feeley said during a brief status hearing before Common Pleas Court Judge G. Michael Green on Tuesday that his client's sanity has since been restored but that he may still waive the preliminary hearing.

Green has scheduled a new status conference for October 8. The prosecution is being led by Assistant District Attorney Jerry Rassias.
