Man killed in shooting in downtown Silver Spring

According to police, a man died in a shooting in downtown Silver Spring on Labor Day.

Jamar Emmanuel Jenifer, 34, of Washington, DC, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD).

Police and firefighters responded to the 8000 block of 13th Street around 9:42 a.m. Monday. According to police, officers found Jenifer in an alley with apparent gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead.

According to police information from Tuesday afternoon, there are currently no suspects in custody. Detectives are currently actively investigating the murder.
