Trump pleads not guilty to amended charges in election interference trial

Donald Trump pleaded not guilty on Tuesday after special counsel Jack Smith filed a revised indictment against Trump for his efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election. Trump also waived the right to be present at his arraignment.

A federal judge in Manhattan has rejected a request by Donald Trump to transfer his criminal case in New York State to the federal courts. He had previously rejected Trump's claims that Judge Juan Merchan was biased against him. In May, Trump was found guilty on all 34 counts of attempting to influence the 2016 presidential election by falsifying business records to cover up hush money payments. His sentencing is still scheduled for September 18.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump's campaign team has been ordered to stop using the music of late singer Isaac Hayes at Trump rallies. A Georgia judge upheld a lawsuit filed by Hayes' family, who say the legendary singer did not approve of Trump's use of his song “Hold On, I'm Coming.”
