Do not allow party politics to create tensions in Effutu-NCCE

By JK Nabary

Winneba (C/R), September 4: GNA Mr. Robert Ekow Ewur, the Central Regional Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), has warned the people of Effutu Constituency not to allow the pursuit of political power to create tension in the region.

He said it was an undeniable fact that the current political climate prevailing in Effutu was divisive and that differences and disunity among families and friends must give way to unity, harmony and tranquility.

Mr Ewur gave this advice as part of an awareness-raising campaign by the Commission’s Effutu Directorate in Eyipey and Akousa communities in Winneba.

The meeting was held under the motto: “Participate in securing peace before, during and after the 2024 parliamentary elections.”

The sponsor was Mr. Alexander Ato Kwamina Afenyo-Markin, Member of Parliament for the constituency.

The Regional Director noted that the political temperature in Effutu has been gradually rising of late, but called for mutual respect and decency in the activities of political parties during the election campaign to prevent any chaos before and after the December elections.

The Commission stated that the activities of individuals and political parties must be free from acts that could negatively affect peace in Effutu and the country.

He said that since the commission was preaching for peace across the country, it was necessary for everyone, especially the youth, to act as ambassadors of peace and reject those who would instigate them to chaos or violence.

“We have only one Effutu. We should see ourselves as one people who want to develop and not allow party political interests to divide us,” he added.

Mr Bosson-Amedenu Sena, the Commission's municipal director in Effutu, said the sensitisation campaign was aimed at ensuring lasting peace in the country before, during and after the presidential and parliamentary elections in December.

He called on the people not to allow anyone to influence them through money or other things to endanger peace.

Mr Kofi Kum, Member of Parliament for Effutu Eyipey Constituency, urged residents to be ambassadors of peace and not to engage in unproductive activities.

“We must see ourselves as one people, tolerate each other and stop fighting each other for political reasons.
