A driver who fled after an accident sped through Vienna on Wednesday night and also evaded a traffic check. The police began to pursue him.

On September 3rd, at around 4:30 a.m., police officers noticed a car driver while on patrol. When the officers signaled the vehicle to stop in the area of ​​Edelsinnstrasse/Wienerbergstrasse, the man stepped on the accelerator.

37-year-old committed hit-and-run and sped away from Vienna police

A chase with several patrol crews ensued as far as Breitenfurter Straße in Vienna-Liesing, where the car driver eventually collided with a lamppost and was unable to continue. The 37-year-old had previously ignored red lights several times and was driving at significantly excessive speed.

It turned out that the 37-year-old had already caused an accident with a taxi near Burggasse and then fled the scene. In addition, the suspect had used the car from the Tulln district without authorization. The man was repeatedly charged with endangering physical safety.
