Billie Eilish chats about her close relationship with her fans during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live on ABC on Tuesday.

The 22-year-old Grammy winner shared a video of herself talking to fans after her recent visit to the talk show filmed in Hollywood.

The clip showed Billy, with her once fiery red hair, rolling down the window of her car to greet fans she recognized on the street.

The Los Angeles native reached out and shook hands with her fans.

“Oh my God, you look good!” Billie said to a fan while asking how they were doing.

“So do you recognize these women now and do you know them?” asked 56-year-old Jimmy.

“Yes,” Billie replied, explaining that her fans, especially in Los Angeles, grew up with her.

“The cool thing was that all these fans, my whole little family, were like that – we grew up at the same time,” Billie said.

“Especially in LA, just because I'm from here, I travel a lot and stuff. When I first started, everything I did, I saw certain kids. And they were all the same age,” she said.

Billie said she would see her several times a year, then not for a few years, and then again.

“Over the years I've seen the same faces several times. Some are in here, some are outside, of course I recognize them. I'm a person with eyes,” joked Billie.

“It's so special, it's like seeing my old friend again,” she added.

Jimmy then shared a clip of what happens when he leaves the show.

The comical part showed a group of fans approaching his car, but Jimmy rolled up the windows and sped away.

Billie was on the talk show to promote her third studio album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, and her supporting Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour, which kicks off September 29 in Quebec, Canada.

Jimmy congratulated Billie as Hit Me Hard and Soft went platinum on Tuesday, pointing out that her new album only has one side, unlike traditional vinyl records which have two sides.

Billie said it was a conscious decision as the album is “quite short” with only 10 songs.

She said the album had to be shorter than 44 minutes because she wanted to finish it in less than three months.

Jimmy praised Billie for producing albums at a time when many artists are focused on releasing individual singles, and Billie said producing albums is a priority for her.

“Very important. There's nothing wrong with any of that, but I love albums and I love when something feels like a whole, cohesive and thought out. With this album in particular, a lot of it is so thought out. Even the setlists and all the songs and their order and position are extreme – we worked really hard on that,” said Billie.

Billie cited The Beatles' White Album as a major influence on her approach to putting together an album, emphasizing how the individual songs flow into one another.

She also shared a video recorded on her phone in the back of an SUV in Brazil, demonstrating the process of her collaboration with her brother Finneas.

“Yeah, this is a video I shot on my phone in the back of the SUV in Brazil. On the way to a show in Brazil a year and a half ago. And that's one thing – I mean, that's a normal thing for me and Finneas, that we always work in the most random places,” she said.

“I mean, we talked about it all the time, but you know, 'No Time to Die' for James Bond, we recorded on the tour bus in the bunk in the dark. We always – and you know, we recorded in little hotels in El Paso. It's not as cool, but it's fun because it's so casual and normal, and we just sat in the back of his car, and it's Finneas' laptop, and, like – yeah,” she added, while offering insight into her unique process.

The clip showed them working on an early version of “Birds of a Feather” and Billie revealed that they had worked on “many different versions”.

Jimmy asked if she sometimes preferred older versions of songs, and Billie freely admitted, “They're almost always terrible.”
