Princess Kate is 'adamantine' on how to prepare George for the future | Royal | News

According to a royal expert, Princess Kate and Prince William attach great importance to giving Prince George and his siblings Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis as normal a childhood as possible without burdening him with the burden of his future.

Of the couple's decision to raise George with far more freedom than previous generations of English monarchs, royal author Phil Dampier told Fabulous: “King Charles has spoken in the past of the terrible moment when he finally realised as a child that he was going to be king and that his whole future lay ahead of him, and that was a huge shock.

“One of the ways William and Kate have prepared George for royalty is by NOT preparing him for it.”

The expert also believes that the Prince and Princess of Wales will not force the future king to join the armed forces, which is a stark contrast to King Charles' strict upbringing.

Rather, they are likely to give him the means to shape his own future rather than imposing obligations on him.

While the parents slowly introduce him to royal duties, they actively encourage their son to make his own decisions and even hope that he will attend university.

Mr Dampier added: “They insisted that they wanted to give him, Charlotte and Louis as normal an upbringing as possible and not burden them with his future fate.”

“A committee of politicians, courtiers and advisers decided which schools Charles should go to, what service in the armed forces he should do and where in the Commonwealth he should visit, including a college stint in Australia. None of that will happen for George.”

Prince George, second in line to the throne after his father, is currently enjoying the life of an upper-class aristocratic child and often spends time with Kate's family, the Middletons, and friends such as Ralph Tollemache.

Mr Dampier noted that his parents combine the Prince's love of sport with royal duties, allowing him to take a first small step onto the public stage by taking part in events he enjoys.

He said: “William has taken George to social events such as football and mum Kate has taken him to Wimbledon. As well as enjoying the sport, it is good for him to meet people from all walks of life and gain confidence.

“The next few years will be important, but it looks like George has a solid foundation to build on.”
