That's why Cody Rhodes answered a controversial question the way he did

Cody Rhodes was asked for his opinion on the ongoing Janel Grant case in Party in Berlin Press conference after the show this Saturday.

Janel Grant is a former WWE employee who claims she was sexually abused and trafficked within the organization. She names Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis and others as perpetrators.

At the press conference, Rhodes was asked whether he believed Janel Grant's allegations and why the team was largely silent on the issue.

(Starts at minute 21.)

“Having a great story, having a great match and doing that every night has led most of us to find out the information just like you do. And part of that is unraveling that information in terms of what happened, how it happened and how justice will be served, whatever it may be.”

Cody Rhodes

Despite the explosive, confusing questions, Rhodes answered exactly as he should have.

First, this is still an ongoing investigation. The Department of Justice is actively looking into Grant's claims, and in doing so is also examining WWE as a whole and what role, if any, the company may have played in the alleged crimes.

So why would Cody publicly comment on an open case where all the evidence isn't yet in? That would be stupid for both him and his employer, the WWE.

Of course, Rhodes and other WWE Superstars have an opinion on the case. Who doesn't?

However, since this is an ongoing Department of Justice investigation and WWE likely has a policy prohibiting employees from commenting publicly on the matter, Rhodes did the only thing he could do, saying (in effect), “Let's wait until we have all the facts.”

There is no word yet on when the Justice Department will complete its investigation into WWE and Grant's allegations. For now, her case is on hold until the government does so.
