Guardians vs. Royals prediction, odds and likely pitchers for Tuesday, September 3 (Bac

This marks the sixth straight loss for the Kansas City Royals, who have slipped from first place in the AL Central last week to 4.5 games behind the Cleveland Guardians as they enter Game 2 of their series this week.

Cleveland picked up a 4-2 win on Monday night to move to 20 games over .500 points this season.

Now the Royals look to bounce back at home with Brady Singer on the mound. Singer enters this game with a 9-9 record and a 3.36 ERA, but the Royals have lost four of their five games in August.

Kansas City still holds a wildcard spot – for now. Can it bounce back at home in a pick'em scenario?

Here's a breakdown of the latest odds, my best bet and more for Tuesday's AL Central matchup.

Cleveland Guardian

Josh Naylor: Naylor hit a home run on Monday night to help the Guardians to the win. This season, he has a .245 batting average with 29 home runs. He has struggled against Singer in his career, having a .130 batting average (3-for-23) with one home run and four runs batted in.

Kansas City Royals

Brady Singer: Kansas City didn't fare well in Singer's starts in August, as the right-hander posted a 5.53 ERA and allowed 39 hits and five walks in 27.2 innings. Kansas City is still above .500 in his appearances (15-12), but Singer's ERA has risen from 2.88 to 3.36 in the last month.

Last week, Bibee didn't put in a great performance against the Royals, allowing five runs in five innings, but the Guardians picked up a 7-5 victory thanks to four scoreless innings from their best bullpen in the league.

Kansas City's losing streak in the final month of the regular season is extremely concerning and I am not convinced about Singer (5.53 ERA last month) as a stopper.

Cleveland thrived when Bibee was on the mound, winning 19 of his 26 games and allowing three or fewer earned runs in 18 of those games.

When you have the best bullpen in baseball behind you, getting off to a good start is a great way to get a win.

Until the Royals get back on track, I'm putting the small price on Cleveland.
