Tragic capsizing of a boat in the Ganges claims the lives of two farmers

Two farmers drowned in the Ganges river in Bijnor district of western Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday after their boat capsized while they were collecting fodder for their livestock, police said.

A third farmer, who was also on the boat, managed to swim to safety. The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon in the Mandawar police station area.

Madhav Singh Bisht, in-charge of Mandawar police station, said: “One of the three farmers, Yusuf, managed to swim to safety. The search for the two missing people is still on.” Bisht added that the boat capsized due to the strong current of the river.
